LG Display Practicing Sharing for 17 Years, Total Social Contribution Fund Reaches 23.6 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] LG Display has been steadily practicing 'warm sharing' to create a happy world for 17 years.
According to LG Display on the 7th, the social contribution fund accumulated since the company's social contribution declaration ceremony in 2005 has totaled 23.6 billion KRW. LG Display officially launched its social responsibility activities through the 2005 'Social Contribution Declaration Ceremony,' encouraging voluntary donations and volunteer work by employees and actively establishing social contribution programs that leverage the characteristics of its industry.
One of the representative funds, the 'Employee Social Contribution Fund,' is mainly used to support marginalized groups and solve community issues such as helping those affected by COVID-19, through a 'matching grant' system where employees donate a certain amount from their salary and the company contributes an equivalent amount.
Additionally, over 40,000 employees have participated in donations through the 'LGDream Fund,' which supports medical expenses and basic living costs for children and adolescents in impoverished environments, and the 'Electronic Donation Box,' a micro-donation platform where donations can be made via payroll deductions by tagging an ID card.

Through this, the total volunteer hours contributed by more than 34,000 employees have reached approximately 556,000 hours. Even last year, when face-to-face volunteering became difficult due to COVID-19, employee volunteering continued by finding new methods such as producing donation kits that could be participated in untact.
Meanwhile, LG Display actively encourages social contribution programs that reflect the characteristics of its industry. The IT Development Center project, started to bridge the information gap for underprivileged children by reflecting the characteristics of the IT industry, has established IT education spaces at a total of 57 locations domestically and internationally (53 domestic sites and 4 overseas sites), beginning with the Emmanuel Infant and Child Care Center in Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk in 2008. In addition, the national eye health support project has been conducted in various forms such as free eye examinations, camps for children and adolescents with low vision, and the Chorongi Eye Health Classroom, informing over 60,000 people about the importance of eye health.
