Pocheon City, Full Cash Bonus for Entertainment and Danran Bars
An Additional 1 Million Won Each for Registered Academies, Private Institutes, and Sports Facilities
[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province will provide additional 'disaster basic income' payments in full cash to sectors severely affected by business suspension and restrictions, such as academies, sports facilities, and entertainment and pubs.
On the 6th, Park Yoon-guk, mayor of Pocheon City, stated, "Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, small business owners have suffered significant losses. After careful consideration to share the pain, we have decided to provide additional disaster basic income support."
According to the city, as of the day before the announcement on February 5, the eligible academies and private institutes, as well as sports facilities, are those operating children's school buses reported to the local police station under Article 52 of the Road Traffic Act, and are registered academies and sports facilities teaching sports to children within the jurisdiction.
Additionally, entertainment and pubs among food service establishments that have suspended operations since May last year due to social distancing measures of level 2 or higher are also included.
One million won will be paid per each of the 100 registered academies and private institutes and 40 sports facilities, while entertainment and pubs will receive two million won per establishment.
The city plans to accept applications through the respective departments in charge of each sector from the 8th to the 19th and will pay the full amount in cash.
This additional disaster basic income payment will be funded by 540 million won from the supplementary budget reserve based on Article 5 of the 'Pocheon City Disaster Basic Income Payment Ordinance.'
