[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 5th, members of the People Power Party directly demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo, but it was reported that Chief Justice Kim indicated he has "no intention" to step down.
The People Power Party's Impeachment Deal Truth Investigation Team visited the Supreme Court in protest that day. There was even a physical scuffle between the lawmakers trying to enter the Supreme Court and administrative staff, causing delays in access.
After meeting with the Chief Justice, Representative Kim Do-eup told reporters, "I spoke frankly. A Chief Justice who lies to the people is unqualified and should make a decisive decision. That is a matter of respect for all members of the court organization. However, (the Chief Justice) said he has no intention of stepping down."

He explained, "According to the Supreme Court regulations, even during investigation and trial, unless there is a disciplinary reason, a resignation cannot be refused. Chief Justice Kim said that since he was under trial at the time, his resignation could not be accepted. When I cited the Supreme Court regulations stating that even during investigation and trial, unless it is disciplinary, dismissal cannot be denied, he did not respond."
