'Suncheonman Wetland & Suncheonman National Garden' Selected for 5 Consecutive Times in Korea's Top 100 Tourist Attractions

The Korea Tourism 100 Best Spots is a project jointly promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization every two years, selecting and promoting 100 representative tourist attractions in South Korea. Suncheon Bay Wetland has been selected for five consecutive times since the Korea Tourism 100 Best Spots began in 2013, recognized as a representative tourist destination of South Korea.
Registered as the first Ramsar Convention site in Korea in 2006, Suncheon Bay Wetland is a world-class wetland that preserves the most natural ecosystem in the country and is highly regarded as an internationally rare bird wintering site before being a tourist attraction.
Additionally, with a reed bed area of 2.3㎢, S-shaped waterways, and beautiful natural scenery such as sunsets, it is a famous spot that many tourists revisit.
Suncheon Bay National Garden, the venue of the '2013 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo,' was designated as Korea's first national garden in 2015, receiving high praise for leading the garden industry and turning ecological tourism into a resource and globalizing it.
With the confirmation of hosting the 2023 Suncheon Bay National Garden Expo, held again after 10 years, preparations are underway to expand the garden throughout Suncheon City.

A Suncheon City official said, “Through the five consecutive selections in the Korea Tourism 100 Best Spots, the reputation and value of Suncheon as the ecological capital of Korea have been reaffirmed.” He added, “We will do our best to become a safe tourist destination by developing untact non-face-to-face tourism programs to heal the bodies and minds of people exhausted by COVID-19.”
