COVID-19 New Cases 451... Over 400 for Two Consecutive Days (Update)

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea has recorded the mid-400s for two consecutive days.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 4th at midnight that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 451 from the previous day to 79,762.
The sources of infection for the new confirmed cases were 429 local transmissions and 22 imported cases.
Among the locally transmitted cases, about 8 cases occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area. Seoul reported 166 cases (38.7%), Gyeonggi 128 cases (29.8%), and Incheon 43 cases (10.0%), totaling 337 cases in the metropolitan area, accounting for 78.7% of all cases.
Additionally, new confirmed cases were reported as follows: 26 in Busan, 13 in Chungnam, 12 in Gwangju, 8 in Gangwon, 7 in Daegu, 7 in Gyeongnam, 6 in Gyeongbuk, 4 in Chungbuk, 2 in Daejeon, 2 in Ulsan, 2 in Jeonnam, 2 in Jeju, and 1 in Jeonbuk. No new cases were reported in Sejong.
There were 22 imported confirmed cases. Among them, 6 were detected during quarantine, and the remaining 16 were identified locally. Ten were Korean nationals and 12 were foreigners.
The number of patients who have recovered and been released from isolation reached 69,704, an increase of 405 from the previous day. Among the hospitalized confirmed cases, the number of critically ill patients was 211, down by 9 from the previous day. The death toll rose by 7 to 1,448.

On the previous day, 46,381 diagnostic tests were conducted on suspected cases. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 27,763 tests were performed, confirming 85 new cases.
