[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam, discussed measures to manage the gas explosion accident at a house in Sanho-dong that occurred on the 1st.
On the afternoon of the 1st, a city gas explosion occurred at a detached house in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City, causing one house to collapse and damaging two nearby houses.
As a result of this accident, three people are currently hospitalized, and four residents have evacuated to a nearby senior center or are staying at relatives' homes.
The city is prioritizing the provision of emergency relief supplies to the affected residents and has established a restricted access line at the accident site to prevent further safety incidents.
Mayor Heo Seong-mu visited the accident site on the day and discussed the accident details, response directions, and comprehensive support measures for the victims with heads of related agencies such as the fire department.
The discussion on comprehensive support measures focused on the burden of hospital expenses for severely injured inpatients, securing housing after discharge, and livelihood support.
To this end, various support methods are being explored, including applications for emergency livelihood benefits, emergency medical expense applications through the Korean Red Cross, and linking medical expense support from the Burn Medical Foundation.
Additionally, plans such as installing temporary residential containers and providing trauma treatment support are also under review.
