Government to Hold 4th Meeting of the Green New Deal Subcommittee of the Korean New Deal Advisory Group on the 3rd
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Kim Yongbeom, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, announced on the 3rd, "We will actively invest a total of 8 trillion won in the Green New Deal, including energy mix transition, eco-friendly mobility, low-carbon infrastructure, and green transformation of the industrial sector, and 70% of this will be executed within the first half of the year." The government will also establish a climate response fund and promote the adjustment of the carbon pricing system to provide clear market signals for the transition to an eco-friendly and low-carbon economy.
On the same day, Vice Minister Kim held the 4th meeting of the Green New Deal division of the Korean New Deal Advisory Group at the HJ Business Center in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, stating, "This year, we will push for a full-scale transition to an eco-friendly low-carbon economy."
He added, "The Biden administration in the United States will simultaneously pursue global climate response leadership and economic recovery through a strong eco-friendly policy drive."

He also announced plans to pass the Carbon Neutrality Basic Act and other related legislation during the February extraordinary session of the National Assembly. He explained, "We will actively promote future transition legislative tasks supporting the Green New Deal and carbon neutrality, aiming for legislation during the February extraordinary session."
