BJ Who Killed Female Employee After Refusing Exposure Broadcast Sentenced to 35 Years in Prison
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] A BJ who runs an internet broadcast was sentenced to 35 years in prison on charges of robbing money from and killing a female employee who refused his order to wear revealing clothes during the broadcast.
Mr. A (41) planned to have his female subordinate B (24), in her 20s, wear highly revealing outfits and conduct internet broadcasts related to stocks, but when she refused, he planned the crime.
On the 2nd, the 13th Criminal Division of the Uijeongbu District Court (Chief Judge Jung Daju) announced that Mr. A, who was indicted on charges of robbery and murder, was sentenced to 35 years in prison. The recommended sentencing range according to the sentencing guidelines was 17 to 22 years in prison. Additionally, the court ordered Mr. A to wear an electronic location tracking device for 20 years and prohibited him from approaching the victim’s family.
The court explained the sentencing reason, stating, "Although he surrendered himself, he committed an inhumane crime that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances," and "considered his two prior convictions for violent crimes."
Earlier, Mr. A conducted overseas futures investment internet broadcasts at an officetel office in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, and hired the victim B as an employee in March of last year.
Subsequently, on June 29 of last year, after teaching B stock-related knowledge, Mr. A planned to have her conduct internet broadcasts wearing highly revealing clothes to generate income. When she refused, he suppressed B, who had come to work, with a prepared weapon and rope. He then took 10 million won from B’s account and, on the same night, gave her tranquilizers and sleeping pills before strangling her to death.
Immediately after the crime, Mr. A left the office and attempted to take his own life but failed. Three days after the crime, on July 1 of last year, he called the police and surrendered. During the police investigation, it was confirmed that Mr. A had previously served two prison terms, having been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months for special robbery and 3 years for special rape.
During the trial, Mr. A claimed, "At the time of the crime, I was taking medication for depression and panic disorder, and due to side effects, I was in a state of diminished mental capacity, so the killing was impulsive," but the court did not accept these claims.
The court ruled, "Robbery and murder is an inhumane crime that takes an irreplaceable life for property," and "Considering the seriousness of its illegality and blameworthiness, the defendant’s actions cannot be tolerated under any circumstances."

It added, "The defendant hired the victim with the plan to make money from the beginning and ultimately took her life," and "Considering that the victim’s mother must live with the pain of never seeing her precious daughter again, that the defendant has not been forgiven by the bereaved family, and that he has two prior convictions for violent crimes, the sentence was decided."
