Jeonnam Province Focuses on Resident Safety During Lunar New Year... Establishes 'Special Quarantine Measures'
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has prepared and begun implementing a 'Lunar New Year Special Quarantine Plan' to block the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that residents can safely spend the Lunar New Year holiday.
Jeonnam Province announced on the 31st that from the 1st to the 14th of next month, it will establish a 'Special COVID-19 Quarantine Period for the Lunar New Year Holiday' and implement special quarantine measures such as emergency duty at medical facilities and quarantine systems, inspection of quarantine management in vulnerable areas, and strengthening of public life quarantine promotion targeting residents.
In particular, since there is a high risk of COVID-19 spreading within the province during the Lunar New Year holiday due to visits to hometown relatives, visits to other regions, and family gatherings, the province plans to actively promote refraining from hometown visits.
To this end, COVID-19 life quarantine rules will be promoted through various media such as the press, SNS, promotional materials, and village broadcasts, and on-site campaigns will also be conducted to encourage active participation.
The province will maintain a thorough quarantine system even during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Screening clinics at public health centers in the province (56 locations), Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute, infectious disease dedicated hospitals (3 locations), and KEPCO KPS Living Treatment Centers will operate normally to conduct active diagnostic testing and isolation and inpatient treatment.
In addition, the province, cities, and counties will conduct 24-hour emergency duty to promptly carry out quarantine measures such as contact management, epidemiological investigations, and disinfection.
The quarantine management system for infection-vulnerable and multi-use facilities will also be strengthened, and intensive inspections will be conducted.
Nursing homes, hospitals, and facilities for people with disabilities will prohibit outings, overnight stays, and visits, and workers and users are advised to refrain from movement and contact with many people and to avoid travel during the holiday period.
When confirmed cases occur, senior welfare centers and senior citizen centers in the city or county will suspend operations, while other cities and counties will operate based on the judgment of the mayor or county governor. Joint New Year’s bows, sharing food, and indoor food consumption are also prohibited.
At gravesites and memorial facilities, mask-wearing at all times, maintaining a distance of 2 meters (at least 1 meter), and other distancing guidelines must be followed. During the holiday period, non-face-to-face online memorial and grave visiting services will be expanded, and a daily memorial visitor quota reservation system will be implemented.
Village-level joint ritual events such as group New Year’s bows are prohibited.
Traditional markets, marts, and other large distribution facilities will operate joint quarantine inspection teams composed of cities, counties, and merchant associations, and quarantine measures such as mask-wearing, hand sanitizer provision, and periodic disinfection will be strengthened.
The province plans to conduct focused inspections with cities and counties to ensure strict compliance with quarantine rules at facilities such as indoor sports facilities, bathhouses, and nursing facilities, which are vulnerable to infection.
In addition, public transportation facilities such as bus terminals and train stations will be disinfected more than twice daily, ventilated continuously, passenger flow for boarding and alighting will be separated, and thermal imaging cameras will be operated at entrances and exits to strengthen quarantine. From February 3 to 5, a joint inspection by the province, cities, and counties will be conducted for three days.
Also, the provincial administrative support officer will be dispatched to the field to conduct special on-site inspections of multi-use facilities such as terminals and key management and vulnerable facilities on the 8th of next month.
Violations and deficiencies found during inspections will be addressed with on-site guidance and strict measures such as fines to increase compliance with quarantine rules.
