Popular Customized Gift Sets for 'Home Seol-jok' During Contactless Holidays
Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic Leads to Another Contactless Lunar New Year
Products Suitable for Enjoying at Home Released One After Another
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] As non-face-to-face holidays are expected to continue during Seollal following Chuseok, gift trends are also changing.
According to a survey released by Saramin on the 31st, 63.4% of office workers said they would not visit their hometown during this Seollal holiday. This figure is about twice as high as in 2019 and even higher than last year's Chuseok, which was the first non-face-to-face holiday. Additionally, the most common response was that they plan to stay at home instead of returning to their hometown.
Targeting these 'Home Seollal' families, this year's Seollal gift sets are moving away from the traditional trends of premiumization and large quantities, focusing instead on products suitable for anyone to enjoy comfortably at home.
Domestic meat processing company IPC Mall introduced the ‘Excel Cut Seollal Gift Set,’ which packages premium beef Excel® in small portions. The Excel Cut Seollal Gift Set comes in two types: a mixed pack gift set of four popular beef cuts commonly enjoyed in home-cooked meals, and an LA Galbi gift set, which is highly preferred during holidays. In particular, the ‘Popular 4-Cut Mixed Pack Gift Set’ includes popular cuts such as chuck flap tail, chuck eye roll, brisket point, and pork belly brisket.
Excel Beef, the raw material for Excel Cut, is a premium beef brand that has solidified its status in Korea by holding the number one market share for U.S. beef in Korea for four consecutive years since 2017, according to the U.S. PIERS report. It is safely produced at IPC, the largest domestic meat processing plant certified by HACCP, and uses the latest packaging technology to maintain freshness, allowing consumers to enjoy high-quality fresh beef with confidence.
Daesang also launched three types of ‘Chungjungone Home Stay Sets’ composed of convenient ready meals. Released as a special limited edition, the ‘Chungjungone Home Stay Sets’ include the ‘Jinsuseongchan Set’ made up of popular home-style HMR meals, the ‘Air Fryer Snack Set’ which can be easily enjoyed using an air fryer, and the ‘Home Drinking Snack Set’ for convenient eating at home.
In particular, the Home Drinking Snack Set consists of popular delivery late-night snacks and side dishes such as grilled boneless chicken feet, grilled spicy pork intestines, and fried chicken gizzards. These can be easily prepared using a microwave or air fryer and are easy to clean up afterward, making them ideal for enjoying home drinking.
Coffee specialty chain Hollys Coffee targeted the Home Seollal families spending the holiday at home by launching three types of Home Cafe Edition gift sets incorporating a home cafe concept. The 2021 Home Cafe Edition by Hollys Coffee features coffee sticks containing Hollys Coffee’s signature menu items and stylishly designed merchandise. Especially, the ‘All For You Home Cafe Edition’ includes Hollys Coffee’s popular Vanilla Delight coffee sticks and a versatile tumbler, allowing users to enjoy a cafe atmosphere anywhere, which has received a positive response from those staying at home.
