On the afternoon of January 28, about 20 citizens were waiting to receive COVID-19 diagnostic tests at the screening clinic in front of Pohang City Hall in Daejam-dong, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk. Just on the 27th, hundreds of people had formed a long queue here.

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 31st, as of midnight, the cumulative confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area totaled 2,975 (including 34 overseas cases), an increase of 16 (including 1 imported case) from the previous day.
In Pohang City, among the 10 new confirmed cases, 4 tested positive through the house-to-house testing where at least one person per household was tested. Five others were family members or contacts of existing confirmed cases, and one was an overseas entrant who tested positive before the end of self-quarantine.
Since the 'house-to-house testing' began on the 26th in Pohang, about 100,000 people have been tested, resulting in 25 asymptomatic confirmed cases so far. The cumulative confirmed cases in Pohang stand at 437, after one case confirmed on the 11th was excluded from the local count due to a testing error.
In Andong City, all 4 new confirmed cases are related to the Songhyeon-dong Mirae Taekwondo Academy. One student and three contacts tested positive during self-quarantine. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the Taekwondo academy to 53 over five days.
In Gyeongsan City, two people classified as contacts of Gyeongsan case number 824, confirmed on the 29th, were tested and found positive.
