Export consultations with 5 countries including Taiwan and Vietnam... Consultation performance records $61.1 million (approx. 68.4 billion KRW)
50 domestic SMEs and 16 local buyers participated, totaling 490 consultations
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 31st that it recorded approximately $61.1 million (about 68.4 billion KRW) in consultation results during a five-day non-face-to-face export consultation event connecting five countries?Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand?from the 25th to the 29th.
The "Korea Brand Expo," which connects domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with overseas distributors, is Lotte Homeshopping's flagship win-win program that began in 2016. Due to difficulties in holding offline export consultation events amid COVID-19, the program was converted to a non-face-to-face format to support SMEs struggling with export slumps. The event simultaneously connected five countries online, allowing local buyers and domestic SME representatives to conduct consultations.
Fifty domestic SMEs in sectors such as fashion and beauty and sixteen local buyers participated, conducting a total of 490 video consultations, resulting in approximately $61.1 million in export consultation achievements. An official website was launched featuring a "V Catalog" containing product demonstration videos from participating companies, as well as Hallyu content involving six celebrities, including Girls' Generation's Yuri and beauty influencer Pony. During the event, influencer-linked online content achieved 200,000 views, receiving high acclaim. The most popular content was a video featuring beauty influencer Pony introducing and demonstrating products such as serums and creams from participating companies, which surpassed 50,000 cumulative views and attracted attention. Lotte Homeshopping plans to continuously operate the official website as a channel to promote the "Korea Brand Expo" and support overseas exports of SME products.
Lee Seung-wan, CEO of Seoul Propolis, who participated in the event, said, "At a time when we were facing management difficulties due to COVID-19, Lotte Homeshopping's non-face-to-face export consultation event provided a great opportunity to explore overseas expansion. It was beneficial to receive export consultations for five countries simultaneously, and I hope various support measures will continue to help SMEs overcome this difficult period."
Jung Yoon-sang, Head of Communications at Lotte Homeshopping, said, "We are pleased that the export consultation event, converted to a non-face-to-face format to support SMEs struggling with export slumps, received more positive responses than expected. We will continue to support digital exports using online platforms and help domestic SMEs expand overseas."
