Lotte Department Store Sees Surge in Sales of Agricultural and Marine Gift Sets... Gulbi Up 115%, Meat Up 76%
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Department Store announced that from January 18, when sales of Lunar New Year gift sets began, through January 30, sales of agricultural, livestock, and marine products surged compared to last year: dried yellow corvina 115%, salted fish 103%, meat 76%, and fresh fruits and vegetables 94%. In contrast, sales of processed products were lower: daily necessities 44%, alcoholic beverages 42%, traditional Korean sweets 37%, and health (red ginseng) products 20%.
This Lunar New Year, strict social distancing has led to a widespread atmosphere of refraining from returning to hometowns and family gatherings. Accordingly, Lotte Department Store expanded its premium gift sets and introduced exclusive sets catering to the increase in one- to two-person households.
Lotte Department Store increased the number of branded Korean beef selections nationwide, including famous brands such as Hoengseong Hanwoo, Uiseong Garlic Beef, Daegwallyeong Hanwoo, Chungnam Tobau, Chungbuk Cheongpungmyeongwol, and Gyeonggi Anseong Matchum, and prepared 30% more premium meat sets.
Lotte Department Store is conducting Lunar New Year sales events at 31 stores nationwide. Contactless purchases are also available through Lotte ON and the mobile Lotte Department Store app, where over 1,100 types of various Lunar New Year gift sets can be viewed. When purchasing Lotte Department Store food gift sets on Lotte ON, customers can earn 5-10% Lotte Points depending on the purchase amount. Additionally, gift sets can be easily sent with just the recipient’s phone number.
