Palm Beach Residents Say "Trump, Leave Mar-a-Lago"
"Lawyer Begins Legal Review of Residence"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Former U.S. President Donald Trump is facing eviction from the Mar-a-Lago Resort, his residence, due to opposition from nearby residents.
According to local media including The Hill, Palm Beach officials in Florida stated that they have begun a legal review to determine whether the use of Mar-a-Lago Resort as former President Trump's private residence is lawful.
When Trump received permission in 1993 to convert Mar-a-Lago into a private club with a European membership system, he was allowed to accommodate only 10 guests and was granted a special exception by the town authorities limiting stays to less than three weeks per year or less than seven consecutive days.
Palm Beach residents argue that these original agreement terms should also apply to former President Trump.
Trump changed his address from New York to Palm Beach in 2019. After losing the presidential election last November, he headed to Mar-a-Lago on the 20th of this month without attending President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
A Palm Beach official said, "We have started a lawyer review on this matter" and added, "We are conducting a review to determine whether former President Trump can reside at Mar-a-Lago."
