Naju-si, Ungok-dong Jeongryang Village Sewer Pipe Maintenance to Start in March
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Han-hyuk Lee] Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it plans to commence the "Ungok-dong Jeongryang Village Sewage Pipeline Maintenance" project in March to improve the living environment of residents near the public sewage treatment plant.
The city plans to invest 3.8 billion KRW of municipal funds by 2023 to maintain 5.6 km of sewage pipelines in the Jeongryang, Jinbu, and Pyeongchon villages in Ungok-dong. The project is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of 78 households through the separation of stormwater and sewage systems, maintenance of deteriorated pipelines, improvement of river water quality, and reduction of odors.
This project was initially intended to be promoted as a Ministry of Environment national subsidy project considering the characteristics of the village located near the public sewage treatment plant, but it was not reflected due to lack of economic feasibility, which increased residents' inconvenience.
Accordingly, the city decided to bear the entire project cost with municipal funds, prioritizing the improvement of residents' living conditions, receiving strong support from the residents.
Before the construction begins, the city recently held a residents' briefing session in the second-floor meeting room of the public sewage treatment plant to explain the project overview and construction schedule, and agreed to jointly devise measures to minimize inconveniences such as noise and excavation during the construction process from the residents' perspective.
