WEMAKEPRICE O, '0% Brokerage Fee' Continues... "Sharing Pain with Store Owners"
Alleviating Concerns Over Commission Fee Increases Amid Recent Surge in Delivery and Takeout Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Wemakeprice O has decided to continue its '0% brokerage fee' policy, which has been in pilot operation for over four months. The plan prioritizes coexistence with self-employed business owners struggling due to the spread of COVID-19.
On the 29th, Wemakeprice O announced that it will officially operate the '0% brokerage fee' policy started in September last year. This policy only requires bearing the server cost (8,800 KRW per week, including 10% VAT) and does not charge brokerage fees for delivery or takeout (pickup). If the weekly order amount does not exceed 30,000 KRW, the server cost is refunded to the store owner.
It was explained that this decision was made to share the pain with self-employed business owners facing double difficulties due to decreased sales from social distancing and increased delivery brokerage fees. Additional costs borne by store owners, such as separate advertising fees and entry fees, also do not occur under the existing policy.
Store owners registered with Wemakeprice O can choose the more advantageous fee model between a proportional system, which charges 5% of the order amount based on order volume (2% for stores located in Seoul), and a fixed-rate '0% brokerage fee' product with no additional costs other than the server usage fee.
Ha Jae-wook, CEO of Wemakeprice O, said, "We are striving to create a fair delivery culture that can grow together with self-employed business owners," adding, "Like participating in the Seoul Zero Delivery Union and declaring a fee freeze, we will continue to prepare various coexistence measures to become a platform that can support during difficult times."
