The event was attended by Lee Hae-woo, Director of Welfare Planning at Seoul Metropolitan Government, Kim Yong-hee, Secretary General of Seoul Community Chest of Korea (Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest), and others.
The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has caused a sudden increase in households facing livelihood crises. In response, the Community Chest of Korea is promoting an emergency support project for COVID-19 crisis households through regional fundraising organizations nationwide.
Through the delivery ceremony, Seoul Community Chest of Korea will provide 545 million KRW to approximately 800 COVID-19 crisis households in the Seoul area.
Seoul Metropolitan Government completed the recommendation of support recipients from 25 autonomous districts by the 22nd and plans to complete the payment by February 10, before the Lunar New Year holiday.
The recommendation of support recipients focused mainly on households not receiving public welfare support such as emergency welfare or other sponsorship funds, with support ranging from a minimum of 200,000 KRW to a maximum of 1,000,000 KRW depending on the number of household members and household circumstances.
□ Kim Yong-hee, Secretary General of Seoul Community Chest of Korea, said, “This project was initiated to help neighbors who have suffered livelihood damage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We thank Seoul Metropolitan Government and autonomous districts for their active cooperation in promoting this project, and we will complete the payment promptly by February 10 so that Seoul citizens can spend the Lunar New Year holiday with peace of mind.”
