DLS Repayment Amount 32.3906 Trillion Won... 4.2% Increase YoY

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Due to the surge in direct stock investments last year, the issuance amount of DLS (including DLB) decreased by about 24% compared to the previous year.
According to the Korea Securities Depository on the 28th, the issuance amount of DLS (including DLB) last year was 22.2898 trillion KRW, down 24% from the previous year.
By issuance type, both public and private offerings saw a reduction in DLS issuance amounts. They recorded 6.6818 trillion KRW and 15.608 trillion KRW, down 17% and 26.7% respectively from the previous year.
By underlying asset, DLS based on interest rates accounted for the largest share with 11.1021 trillion KRW (49.8%). Credit and mixed types followed with 6.7439 trillion KRW (30.3%) and 3.5166 trillion KRW (15.8%), respectively.
By securities company, Hana Financial Investment issued the most DLS last year. The issuance amount was 3.833 trillion KRW, with a market share of 17.2%. This was followed by Kyobo Securities (3.0675 trillion KRW), Samsung Securities (2.5139 trillion KRW), Korea Investment & Securities (2.4851 trillion KRW), and Shinhan Financial Investment (1.7373 trillion KRW). The combined issuance amount of the top five companies was 13.6368 trillion KRW, accounting for 61.2% of the total DLS issuance.
Additionally, the total repayment amount of DLS last year was 32.3906 trillion KRW, an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous year. By repayment type, early repayments amounted to 17.9157 trillion KRW, accounting for 55.3% of the total repayment amount, followed by maturity repayments and mid-term repayments at 13.3476 trillion KRW (41.2%) and 1.1273 trillion KRW (3.5%), respectively.

At the end of last year, the outstanding balance of unpaid DLS was 26.9008 trillion KRW, down 28.1% from the previous year.
