[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] In Andong, Gyeongbuk, 23 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 related to a Taekwondo academy have been reported in a cluster.
There is concern among health authorities as more patients may emerge from COVID-19 tests conducted on Taekwondo academy students and their contacts.
According to Andong City on the 27th, 7 people tested positive in the morning, 14 in the afternoon, and 2 the previous day.
They include children attending Mirae Taekwondo Academy in Andong city and members of the housewives' class.
Nine people tested positive again in a COVID-19 retest.
Some of the patients reportedly showed symptoms such as cough, fever, and body aches since the 20th.
Among them, 15 are children, including elementary school students.
The city has launched an epidemiological investigation of the confirmed cases and is identifying close contacts and infection routes.
