High School Student Driving Stolen Car Caught by Police After Hit-and-Run Incident
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A high school student who fled after causing a traffic accident with a stolen vehicle was arrested by the police.
Seoul Gangdong Police Station announced on the 27th that they have booked and are investigating a high school student, A (17), on charges of vehicle theft and violation of the Road Traffic Act.
A is suspected of driving without a license in a stolen vehicle around 6:30 p.m. the previous day and causing a collision with a parked car near Gildong Station in Gangdong-gu. It was investigated that A drove about 15 km from Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, where the car was stolen, to the accident site.
A was alone in the car at the time and was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol. After causing the accident, A fled to a nearby residential area but was caught by the driver of the damaged vehicle and responding police officers.
