Gwangju Dong-gu Launches Hiking Trail Maintenance Project... Prioritizing Resident Safety Maintenance
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 27th that it will invest 180 million KRW in a hiking trail maintenance project to ensure the safety of hikers and provide a pleasant hiking environment.
Dong-gu has established a comprehensive plan for maintaining hiking forest trails to create urban forest zones this year, including ▲detailed design services by experts ▲on-site surveys, measurements, and design within the forest ▲plans considering natural and cultural environments ▲maintenance of facilities for safe and pleasant forest trail use, aiming to create a safe hiking environment through eco-friendly methods.
This year’s hiking trail maintenance routes will target major hiking trails near residential areas such as ▲Mudeungsan Gidae Peak (Jisan Recreation Area ~ Palgakjeong) ▲Bunjeoksan (Yukpanseo-gil ~ Huin Jaksan) ▲Mudeungsan Danimgil (Hakwoon Elementary School ~ Palgakjeong). Priority will be given to areas severely damaged by last summer’s heavy rain and those with frequent maintenance requests and complaints.
The main maintenance tasks include ▲surface leveling ▲installation of safety railings ▲drainage maintenance, prioritizing residents’ safety by restoring damaged hiking trails and expanding convenience facilities for hikers to create a pleasant forest trail.
