The YRALEI Golf Course, the battleground of the Sony Open, is a paradise course for amateur golfers.

It is famous as the venue for the PGA Tour Sony Open. Opened in 1927, the tournament has been held annually during the second week of January since 1965. In 2008, 'Tank' K.J. Choi (51, SK Telecom) won, and this year Kevin Na (USA) took the title, drawing attention from domestic fans. The course is a paradise where the cobalt-blue sea, the nearby Diamond Head, frequent sea breezes, hot sun, palm trees, and the shade tree Kiawe blend harmoniously.
However, the fairways are narrow and there are many dogleg holes. The 83 bunkers also pressure golfers. The greens are small but flat, with severe ocean breaks. Scores come easily on calm days without sea breeze, but it is difficult to score when the wind blows strongly. The signature hole is the 8th hole (par 3). The white tee is set at 150 yards, and during the Sony Open, it is set as the 17th hole at 186 yards.
In front of the green is a small creek about 10 yards wide, with a bunker on the left and four more sand hazards on the right. The green is shaped like a sweet potato. The sea color harmonizes with the white beach, creating a panoramic view. The exclamation "What a view" comes naturally. The sea sunset glowing red at dusk especially creates a trance-like experience. Playing with a member is mandatory, and the green fee is about $150.
A (guest): What a view! I think this is the most beautiful hole in the world.
B (member): Yes, it’s very scenic.
A: What a beautiful place to play golf!
B: Yes, but don’t let the view fool you.
