In particular, it was recognized for continuously strengthening open innovation through strategic collaboration and investment in promising technology companies to secure future technology competitiveness early, receiving the Mobility Innovation Award (Minister of Environment Award).
In the electrification business sector, which can be called the green mobility field, Hyundai Mobis is enhancing its global competitiveness in core electrification components based on its independent R&D capabilities and production technology. Since 2017, it has been operating the world's largest hydrogen electric vehicle core parts production plant in Chungju, Chungbuk, producing fuel cell stacks, drive motors, and power electronic components used in hydrogen electric vehicles. In 2019, the second hydrogen fuel cell plant was expanded and began full-scale operation, proactively preparing for the upcoming hydrogen economy era.
Hydrogen fuel cells have great growth potential as they can be applied not only to hydrogen electric vehicles but also to various business models such as emergency power generation, construction machinery, drones, and ships.
In fact, Hyundai Mobis has equipped a hydrogen emergency power generation system within its eco-friendly vehicle parts plant in Chungju, and since last year, it has been jointly developing hydrogen forklifts with Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Construction Equipment, conducting demonstration projects.
