Gwangju Nam-gu 'Wolseong District Land Survey Reassessment' Conflict Resolution Achievement
Leading Protection of Property Rights for 191 Owners of 350 Parcels
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 26th that it has finalized and publicly announced the cadastral boundaries for 350 parcels totaling 211,865㎡ in the Wolseong District, Lot 145 area, after conducting a cadastral readjustment over approximately two years since 2019.
The cadastral readjustment of Wolseong District began in January 2019, following the consent of landowners, and went through processes including holding resident briefings, land status surveys, and cadastral readjustment surveying, with all procedures completed in December of last year.
There are a total of 191 landowners for the 350 parcels, among whom 183 are individual owners holding 298 parcels.
The remaining 52 parcels are shared lands owned by eight institutions including the national government and local governments, such as school sites and roads.
Major exemplary cases from this Wolseong District cadastral readjustment include resolving blind spots and regularizing land shapes to increase property value and resolving conflicts among owners.
In particular, to eliminate blind spots that were not adjacent to roads on the cadastral map and thus faced many restrictions when obtaining various permits, the district office constructed roads near these blind spots to increase land value, receiving strong support from the residents owning these blind spots.
Additionally, for lands used cooperatively by individual owners but not yet subdivided, adjustments were made to subdivide the land and organize the cadastral maps and registers, contributing to conflict resolution.
A Nam-gu official stated, “Through cadastral readjustment, we have resolved boundary disputes among landowners and enhanced the value of land use, greatly supporting the exercise of property rights by owners, which makes us feel rewarded in carrying out this project.”
