Gangdong-gu Office Open Art Museum Exhibition 'Sometimes the Art Museum; Momentarily, Flutter'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) announced the start of the 2021 exhibition of the open art gallery "Sometimes an Art Museum; A Moment of Flutter" which operates the district office building as an art exhibition space.
Since March last year, the district has been operating the corridors of the district office building as an art exhibition space, providing cultural enjoyment opportunities to residents visiting the district office.
In particular, it received great response by inviting residents, medical staff, and volunteers who have worked hard to overcome COVID-19, delivering healing and psychological comfort through artworks.
This year, under the theme of "共存 coexistence," each floor will display works with different concepts: the 2nd floor features ‘Abstract/Representational’, the 3rd floor ‘Oriental/Western’, the 4th floor ‘Photography/Painting/Sculpture’, and the 5th floor ‘Coexistence’.
This exhibition aims to convey the message that just as the individuality and diversity of artworks harmoniously blend, it is also important for our lives to live together.
The exhibition will run until December this year, showcasing about 200 works by renowned artists actively working in the Korean contemporary art scene.
The district plans to introduce new works three times during the exhibition period by changing the themes.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “This exhibition closely resembles the residents of Gangdong-gu who prioritize sharing, solidarity, and community. Despite the difficult situation of COVID-19, I hope this will be a time of healing and comfort for the residents who have personally demonstrated the true meaning of ‘coexistence.’”
The Gangdong-gu District Office open art gallery operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
