The household in question is a middle-aged household living alone for a long time, who piled up all kinds of clutter from the entrance to the ceiling of the room due to alcohol dependence and hoarding disorder, causing foul odors and insects.
In particular, there was a high risk of fire and safety accidents as they ate and slept among the piles of garbage.
After reports from welfare officers and continuous persuasion from neighbors, cleaning began, and with the cooperation of volunteer organizations, about 5 tons of garbage were disposed of.
The individual was selected as a case management target and plans are in place for follow-up management such as hospital treatment and lifestyle guidance.
The center will not stop here but plans to focus on identifying and supporting households and residents marginalized from welfare until the end of February.

Jung Young-shin, the head of the district, said, “The difficulties of low-income and welfare blind spot residents are increasing due to the prolonged cold wave and COVID-19,” adding, “We will do our best to make Hoihyeon-dong a warm community without welfare blind spots by closely monitoring every corner of the neighborhood together with local residents.”
