GS25, Men in Their Late 40s Purchase for Collecting Purposes
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Convenience store GS25 announced on the 24th that the limited edition whiskey "Johnnie Walker Blue Zodiac Collection," launched through 'Wine25Plus,' is gaining great popularity, with major products selling out immediately upon release.
This product is a limited edition collaboration whiskey featuring the world-renowned premium whiskey Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle engraved with gold animal zodiac signs derived from Korea's 12 zodiac animals. It comes in a 750ml bottle and is priced at 330,000 KRW.
When GS25 released a total of 360 bottles, 30 bottles for each of the 12 zodiac signs, on the 22nd, the tiger and snake zodiac products sold out within 9 hours, prompting restock inquiries. The ox and rat zodiac products were also sold out the next day, and other products, including the monkey zodiac, were reported by the convenience store to be close to selling out on the 24th. If all products are sold, the total amount would be approximately 120 million KRW.
Over the two days from the 22nd to the 23rd, the main consumers of this product were middle-aged men aged 46 to 48, mainly those born in the years of the ox (1973), tiger (1974), and rat (1972).
