View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] A woman in her 30s was urgently arrested on charges of abandoning a newborn baby, whose umbilical cord had not yet been cut, leading to the infant's death (infanticide by abandonment).
The police announced that on the 23rd at around 2:47 PM, they responded to a report of a newborn found on a walking path in an apartment complex in Yonghyeon-myeon, Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam Province, and urgently arrested A (female, in her 30s).
At the time of discovery, the newborn was already deceased in a state of cardiac arrest and was hidden under fallen leaves.
The police apprehended A, who resides in the apartment complex, around 8 PM that day through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and began an investigation.
A is known to be the biological mother.
