[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Park Young-sun, former Minister of SMEs and Startups and a leading candidate from the ruling party for the Seoul mayoral by-election, announced her official intention to run in the by-election race on the 23rd. With this, the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul mayoral by-election is expected to become a two-way contest between former Minister Park and Representative Woo Sang-ho.
On the same day, former Minister Park wrote on her Facebook, "The pause is over. The movement begins," adding, "Answering the party's call, I am making my first sortie. Ultimately, the pause did not last more than two days."
She expressed her anticipation, saying, "I will meet with the party leader and candidate Woo for the first time. My heart is pounding."
On that day, former Minister Park participated in the Namdaemun Market visit schedule of party leader Lee Nak-yeon along with Representative Woo Sang-ho, who is also running as a Seoul mayoral candidate.
