President Moon's Approval Rating at 37%... Lowest Since Inauguration [Gallup]
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A public opinion poll revealed that President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his national administration has hit its lowest point since his inauguration.
On the 22nd, Gallup Korea conducted a survey from the 19th to the 21st targeting 1,000 people nationwide aged 18 and older. When asked, "Is President Moon Jae-in performing his duties well as president?" 37% responded "well," while 54% answered "poorly." Additionally, 4% answered "neither," and 6% responded "don't know/refused to answer."
The positive approval rating for the president's job performance has fluctuated between the high 30s and 40% for eight consecutive weeks since falling below 40% in the first week of December last year, when it was 39%. Meanwhile, the disapproval rating has remained above 50%.
Numerically, the positive approval rating dropped by 1 percentage point from the previous week, marking the lowest since his inauguration, while the disapproval rating rose by 1 percentage point.
By age group, disapproval was highest among those in their 50s at 61%, followed by 57% in their 60s and 55% in their 20s, with more than half of respondents in these groups expressing negative evaluations.

The main reason for disapproval was "real estate policy," accounting for 28%. This was followed by "lack of solutions for economic and livelihood issues" (10%), "inadequate response to COVID-19" (9%), and "generally insufficient" (9%).
