Statistics Korea, Gyeonggi Province, and Seoul National University Sign MOU for Safe Data Utilization
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Statistics Korea, Gyeonggi Province, and Seoul National University announced on the 21st that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office to ensure the safe use of data and cooperation. Accordingly, the three institutions plan to exchange mutual opinions for the expansion of data utilization and the development of Gyeonggi Province administration, and to conduct joint research to establish an analysis system including data collection, integration, storage, and opening.
Ryu Geun-gwan, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, said, "By cooperating between the government and academia to make good use of data and promote administrative development, we aim to establish a model case. We will actively cooperate to support the development of Gyeonggi Province and the academic research of Seoul National University by utilizing the experience and know-how accumulated by Statistics Korea."

Additionally, Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, expressed, "If Gyeonggi Province’s efforts to establish data sovereignty, Seoul National University’s safe data utilization technology, and Statistics Korea’s data analysis expertise are linked, it will be possible to provide a wider range of data-based administrative services."
