[Exclusive] Hana Bank Plans Investment in European Logistics Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Major domestic banks are investing in logistics centers in Europe. As e-commerce has become more active due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), investments in logistics centers with low vacancy risk are expected to increase.
According to the investment banking (IB) industry on the 22nd, Hana Bank and other major domestic banks are planning investments in logistics centers in the European region. It is known that they are reviewing financial arrangements for logistics facilities used by Germany's DHL.
The investment scale is reported to be around 100 million dollars. It is a syndicated loan form where several banks jointly promote the investment. Hana Bank plans to directly arrange the deal by leveraging its know-how in overseas logistics center investments.
Hana Bank, which has the most active investment experience in logistics centers in regions such as the Americas and Europe, has been expanding investments in logistics facilities of global retailers including Amazon in areas with favorable locations in Europe such as Germany and Poland.
An IB industry official said, "Before COVID-19, investments were mostly in hotels and offices, but recently they have shifted significantly to logistics warehouses," adding, "Funds are flowing into safe investment destinations with low vacancy risk, such as logistics centers leased by global companies."
