Jinju's Safe Accommodation, operated nationwide for the first time since March last year, is a temporary waiting accommodation for overseas arrivals who wait until their test results are notified after diagnostic testing. The city rents hotels in the city, and city hall officials manage and support accommodation users through 24-hour shift work.
Since March last year, the city has provided Safe Accommodation for university students from outbreak areas to undergo considerate testing and stay until their test results are available for safe school life.
Afterwards, it has mainly been provided to overseas students, overseas arrivals, and citizens who urgently need testing and temporary quarantine during local cluster infections.
So far, a total of 2,321 people have used the Safe Accommodation: 2,076 overseas arrivals, 185 university students from domestic outbreak areas, and 60 other users.
A Jinju city official stated, "Four confirmed cases related to overseas arrivals tested positive while waiting at the Safe Accommodation after considerate testing."
