[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A woman in her 40s was arrested by the police for injuring her 8-year-old biological daughter with a weapon.
The Guro Police Station in Seoul announced on the 21st that they arrested A (44) on the spot on suspicion of special injury under the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse.
According to the police, A is suspected of injuring her biological daughter B (8) with a weapon at an apartment in Guro-gu, Seoul, around 6:30 p.m. the previous day.
B suffered a 7cm stab wound on her back and was transported to the hospital, but fortunately, her life is not in danger.
The police who arrived at the scene arrested A on the spot, and it was confirmed that the biological father was not at home at the time.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "The National Tax Service is wiretapping me, and I committed the crime to prove my innocence."
The police urgently hospitalized A in a psychiatric hospital for a mental evaluation, and they plan to decide on A's custody and other matters once the evaluation results are available.
