Seoul City Lifts Redevelopment Zone Designation for Mapo Sinsu 2 and Jeongneung 506 Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the 1st Urban Planning Committee meeting and announced on the 21st that it decided to lift the single-family housing reconstruction maintenance zones in Shinsu 2, Mapo-gu, and Jeongneung 506 area, Seongbuk-gu.
The area is a zone where the establishment of a union could not be applied for due to conflicts of opinion among residents after the approval of the promotion committee.
According to Article 20 of the Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Act, the zone was set to expire as of March 2 last year. Since the Urban Planning Committee rejected the extension advisory last year, the procedure to lift the maintenance zone was carried out.

Jang Myeongho, head of the Residential Project Support Team at Seoul City, said, "With the decision to lift the maintenance zone, new construction and major repairs (repairing, modifying, or expanding structural elements such as pillars, beams, load-bearing walls, main stairs, or external forms of buildings) are possible. If the majority of residents agree, projects such as residential environment management, street housing maintenance, small-scale reconstruction, and urban regeneration can be considered."
