NH Nonghyup Card Prevents 63 Million KRW in Losses with Voice Phishing Detection System
Intensive Monitoring Conducted for Financially Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] NH Nonghyup Card announced on the 20th that it has achieved the prevention of voice phishing damage worth 63 million KRW through its 'Voice Phishing Detection System.'
At the end of December last year, a member of the agricultural cooperative in their 60s living in Nonsan, Chungnam, received a voice phishing call impersonating the prosecution and applied for a long-term card loan. The criminal urged the member to transfer cash, claiming that the member was involved in a criminal account, and the member then tried to take out a long-term card loan to transfer cash to the criminal. The application amount was 20 million KRW from Nonghyup Card and 43 million KRW from other card companies, totaling 63 million KRW.
The AI-based real-time monitoring system operated by NH Nonghyup Card since last November detected that this was an abnormal transaction event different from the customer's existing financial transaction patterns. Subsequently, the Nonghyup Card accident prevention officer immediately contacted the customer and conducted persuasion activities by providing guidance on the latest fraud methods, thereby preventing financial damage.
In addition to the voice phishing detection system, NH Nonghyup Card operates systems for detecting unauthorized use, self-abnormal transaction detection, and bad merchant detection. In particular, it conducts focused monitoring targeting farmers and elderly people who are vulnerable to financial transactions.
