[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is launching the ‘Social Economy Enterprise Internship Support Project.’
On the 20th, Guro-gu announced, “To support excellent talent for social economy enterprises in the region and provide quality jobs to unemployed youth, we are implementing the Social Economy Enterprise Internship Support Project.”
The participating companies are (preliminary) social enterprises, village enterprises, cooperatives, etc., that have established business offices in Guro-gu and have been operating for more than six months.
Guro-gu plans to prioritize companies that have plans to convert interns to full-time employees after the internship period or have a large number of regular workers.
Eligibility for internship participation is residents of Guro-gu aged 18 or older who belong to households with a median income of 65% or less and assets under 300 million KRW. Among applicants, unemployed individuals aged 34 or younger will be given priority.
Those wishing to participate in the project should prepare application documents; companies must submit them to the Job Support Division of the district office by the 22nd, and internship applicants must visit their local community service center by the 25th to apply.
Application forms can be downloaded from the district office website.
Guro-gu and the selected companies will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding this year’s project operation and decide on working conditions.
Working hours will be determined through consultation between the company and the selected intern within a 40-hour range.
Guro-gu will match one intern participant per company and provide support funds (up to 600,000 KRW per month). Of the support funds, 100,000 KRW will be paid directly to the intern participant. The company will bear the cost of the intern participant’s four major social insurances.
