One New COVID-19 Case Confirmed Overnight in Jeju...Total Reaches 500
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 19th that 1 person (Jeju 500th case) tested positive out of 507 diagnostic tests conducted the previous day.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Jeju area has increased to 500.
A total of 79 COVID-19 cases have occurred this month, and the total number of confirmed cases in the past week is 11, with an average daily number of 1.57 cases per week.
The infection route of the Jeju 500th confirmed case has not yet been identified.
Health authorities have secured statements that Jeju 500th had dinner with acquaintances who visited from other regions before being diagnosed positive, and are investigating the epidemiological connections. So far, 16 contacts related to Jeju 500th are undergoing COVID-19 diagnostic tests.
The test results are expected to be released within the day.
Health authorities completed the second diagnostic test for 84 people, including employees working with juveniles at Hangil Information and Communication School in Jeju Juvenile Detention Center the previous day. After all tested negative in the first diagnostic test on the 6th, the same results were confirmed in the second test.
