Lee's attorney, Lawyer In-jae Lee (Taepyungyang Law Firm), stated at the trial that the essence of this case is the former president's abuse of power, which infringed upon the freedom and property rights of the company. Regarding the court's judgment denying the effectiveness of the Samsung Compliance Committee and the possibility of further appeal, the lawyer said, "We need to review the verdict to know for sure," withholding further comments.

Earlier, the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Jun-young Jeong) sentenced Vice Chairman Lee, who was indicted on charges including bribery, to 2 years and 6 months in prison and ordered his immediate detention. The court ruled that the activities of the Samsung Compliance Committee did not reach a level to be considered as a mitigating factor in Lee's sentencing.
