Supply of Card Payment Data for Analyzing Domestic COVID-19 Economic Impact
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] BC Card announced on the 18th that it will supply card payment data to the National University of Singapore.
BC Card plans to provide domestic card payment data from January last year, when COVID-19 began to spread significantly in Korea, until August, the expiration date of the government emergency disaster relief funds, to the National University of Singapore.
Currently, the School of Design and Environment at the National University of Singapore has formed a research team studying the correlation between COVID-19 and economic resilience according to the spatial structure of cities worldwide. In this regard, the research team at the National University of Singapore requested card payment data from BC Card to analyze consumer activities in Korea after the spread of COVID-19.
Im Se-hyun, Head of BC Card Big Data Center, said, "This supply contract is the first stepping stone for BC Card's payment data to leap onto the global stage," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide customers with differentiated digital experiences through the largest and highest quality payment big data."

Meanwhile, BC Card was selected as the lead operator of the Financial Big Data Platform by the Ministry of Science and ICT in July last year and is providing various converged data together with 12 data providers. Additionally, since December last year, BC Card has been promoting data collaboration with seven value-added network operators (VANs) and payment gateway (PG) companies for the first time in the industry to enhance consumer benefits.
