Jinju City Takes Steps to Secure Non-Face-to-Face Agricultural Product Sales Channels to Overcome COVID-19
Full-Scale Launch of Agricultural Products Online Shopping Mall Construction
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju-si, Gyeongnam announced on the 15th that it will actively expand non-face-to-face sales channels for local agricultural products, including the expansion of online purchases of agricultural products, through the construction project of an agricultural products online shopping mall.
The city plans to build and officially operate the Jinju-si agricultural products online shopping mall in the first half of this year to overcome difficulties in sales channels such as agricultural product sales by farmers due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to revitalize non-face-to-face sales.
The shopping mall construction will be carried out by collecting opinions from farmers, experts, etc., and selecting a professional agency through bidding.
In addition, to ensure the mall settles early, an ordinance regarding operation will be enacted to support agricultural product listings, non-face-to-face sales support measures, promotion, and other assistance.
The city will support 1.8 billion KRW this year for the agricultural products joint sorting cost support project, an increase of 500 million KRW compared to the previous year, to help farmers struggling due to COVID-19.
By supporting joint sorting costs by item according to joint sorting of agricultural products, it is expected to provide practical help to agricultural management through job creation and reduction of logistics costs.
