Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk, Supports Commercialization of Forest Crops... 50% Expense Subsidy Provided
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Sangju City announced on the 15th that it will accept applications for the forest income support project through the town, township, and neighborhood administrative welfare centers in the project areas until the 10th of next month.
Eligible applicants are forestry workers, forestry successors, independent foresters, new knowledge farmers (in the forestry field), or producer organizations. The support covers 79 items including 14 types of fruit trees, 8 types of mushrooms, 12 types of wild vegetables, 18 types of medicinal herbs, 20 types of medicinal plants, 1 type of tree by-products, and 6 types of ornamental forest plants.
The target projects include a total of 9 areas such as establishment of production bases for forest products, establishment of distribution bases for forest products, small-scale forest crop production complexes, and support for commercialization of forest products. The support ratio is 50% subsidy and 50% self-payment.

A Sangju City official said, "Through the forest income increase project, we expect to establish a stable income base and enhance the competitiveness of forestry," adding, "We hope many forestry workers will apply."
