Seven Eleven Launches Healing Lunchbox 'Sumine Bapmeokja Yaedeura' with Kim Sumi
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Convenience store 7-Eleven announced on the 15th that it has partnered with actress Kim Sumi to launch a healing concept lunchbox called ‘Sumine Bapmeokja Yaedeura’ to support the 2030 generation.
This lunchbox was planned to support the 2030 generation who are facing many difficulties such as employment and recession due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. To commemorate the launch of the lunchbox, 7-Eleven and Kim Sumi also released a support video from the nation’s mother Kim Sumi to the 2030 generation on 7-Eleven’s YouTube channel.
‘Sumine Bapmeokja Yaedeura’ contains Kim Sumi’s homemade side dishes such as grilled short rib patties, fried shrimp, spicy stir-fried fish cakes, and rolled omelet. It includes 12 types of side dishes and is priced at 4,300 won, offering great value so that anyone can enjoy it without burden.
Along with this, the Sumine side dish series using aged kimchi was also introduced. There are two types: ‘Sumine Kimchi Jjim’ and ‘Sumine Dakbokkeumtang’. ‘Sumine Kimchi Jjim’ is made by boiling pork neck meat with aged kimchi and spicy seasoning, while ‘Sumine Dakbokkeumtang’ is stir-fried chicken thigh meat with aged kimchi and various vegetables. The weight is 500g, which is a generous amount for 1-2 person households. The selling price is 7,500 won.
At the end of August last year, 7-Eleven formed a partnership with ‘Napalkkot F&B’ and appointed Kim Sumi, who has established herself as a home meal icon through various broadcasting activities, as the 7-Eleven ‘Taste’ ambassador. Kim Sumi not only participates in the development and launch process of ready meals containing her recipes with 7-Eleven but also performs food taste evaluation and advisory roles.
The ‘Sumine Lunchbox Series’ has become a representative lunchbox of 7-Eleven. From September to December last year, when the Sumine lunchbox was first launched, 7-Eleven’s lunchbox sales increased by 28.8% compared to the previous year. 7-Eleven is offering products modeled by Kim Sumi not only in lunchboxes but also in various categories such as triangular kimbap, cooked noodles, and snacks, currently operating 16 types of ready meal products.
