Goheung-gun Launches Full-Scale Income Plus Specialized Crop Project

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 14th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will actively promote the 2021 specialized crop sector projects that overcome the difficulties of fruit and horticultural farmers caused by COVID-19 and reflect field voices.
To this end, the county plans to invest about 5.6 billion won in 30 major projects, including modernization of horticultural facilities and establishment of production infrastructure, expansion of energy-saving facilities, and cultivation of new income subtropical fruit trees.
In particular, new projects this year such as the ‘Multipurpose Small Vinyl House Support Project’ that improves work efficiency for aging farmers and can be used in all four seasons, the ‘Horticultural Crop Greenhouse Environment Control System Support Project’ to improve productivity of fruits and vegetables by supplying carbon dioxide to horticultural crops, and the ‘Seed Garlic Production Complex Construction and Drying Facility Support Project’ to create seed garlic production complexes and prevent quality deterioration will accelerate the competitiveness of farms.
In addition, the county plans to create new income sources and reduce management costs by customizing and subdividing projects for each specialized crop sector, such as shared use facilities for pumpkin sorting machines, pear and peach cultivation facilities, and support for reducing production costs in horticulture.
A county official said, “Since the specialized crop sector is the most suitable crop for recent consumer trends, we plan to promote policies that actively reflect more differentiated and detailed field voices,” adding, “We will support strengthening farmers’ competitiveness, increasing income, and boosting morale.”

Meanwhile, farmers who wish to participate in the projects can apply to the town or township office where the project site is located within the application period with the required documents for each detailed project. After passing eligibility screening and the agricultural policy council process, the final recipients will be confirmed and the projects will be implemented.
