Woongjin Big Class is a subscription-based YouTube English education service that combines original textbooks, real-time live lectures, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The classes allow real-time communication with instructors and include a game-style review app program to enhance self-directed learning effectiveness for elementary school students.
The event is open to all new members, who can receive one month of free tuition and one original textbook for free. After signing up on the Woongjin Big Class website, users can apply immediately and can cancel freely at any time during the free trial. After the first free month, users can extend their subscription for the following month at a cost ranging from 35,000 to 50,000 KRW, including the original textbook. The program is designed according to an ESL (English as a Second Language) curriculum specialized for elementary students, covering phonics, reading, listening, and writing.
According to Woongjin Compass, Woongjin Big Class is characterized by providing an environment where elementary students, familiar with YouTube, can start without resistance and naturally be exposed to English for 30 minutes daily. The program offers one book’s worth of content each month, helping students develop daily English usage habits as if they were in an English-speaking environment.
Additionally, after classes, AI learning with game elements encourages review and homework completion, rewarding children with items to increase voluntary participation. Parents receive daily learning reports via Kakao AlimTalk to check their children's academic achievements.
Lee Wangwoo, Planning Director of Woongjin Big Class, stated, “By paying only 2,500 KRW for textbook shipping, both lectures and textbooks are provided free of charge. We prepared this event so that more students can access top-level lectures in an environment where attending academies is difficult due to COVID-19.”
