History to See in Gwangjin in 2021?... Groundbreaking for KT Site Development (Including Gwangjin-gu Office)
Plans to Implement Customized Policies Beneficial to Residents' Daily Lives
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will implement policies that residents can feel in their daily lives this year to create a “Safer and Healthier Gwangjin.”
Resident Safety ? Smart Quarantine System, Resident Life Safety Insurance, Bicycle Group Insurance Enrollment
Gwangjin-gu operates a smart eco heatwave and cold wave shelter equipped with temperature measurement to block the spread of COVID-19, activating a smart quarantine system.
Additionally, the district enrolls residents in life safety insurance that supports medical expenses for injuries caused by various disasters and safety accidents in daily life, as well as bicycle group insurance that provides compensation in case of bicycle accidents. All Gwangjin residents are automatically enrolled without any separate procedures.
Policies for Children ? Support for Transportation Costs and School Entrance Preparation Funds, Internet CSAT Broadcast, Green Remodeling
For the first time among Seoul’s autonomous districts, transportation costs are supported for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 when using local village buses without transfers on a single route, and all students entering middle and high school receive 300,000 KRW in school entrance preparation funds through their schools.
Furthermore, to reduce private education expenses, the district supports subscription fees for internet CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) broadcasts and promotes a green remodeling project to improve energy efficiency and indoor air quality in aging public and national daycare centers over 15 years old (17 locations planned).
Birth and Childcare-Friendly Policies ? Gwangjin Mom Taxi, Customized Household Care, Disability Childcare Support Fund
The “Gwangjin Mom Taxi” project is promoted to allow pregnant women to safely use dedicated taxis when visiting hospitals for medical care, and a “Pregnant Women Household Care Service” is also provided, offering housekeeping services such as cleaning and laundry and accompanying pregnant women to hospitals in emergencies.
In addition, to stabilize the lives of families with disabled children and reduce economic burdens, an additional childcare support fund of 100,000 KRW per month is provided until the child reaches 7 years old.
Revitalizing the Local Economy and Creating Jobs ? Gwangjin-Type Smart Supermarket, Online Sales, Youth YouTubers
The district promotes a hybrid unmanned store pilot project called “Gwangjin-Type Smart Supermarket,” operated by the store owner during the day and unmanned at night, and supports online sales of excellent small and medium-sized enterprise products.
Moreover, a YouTuber content planning, production (filming, editing), and education program is operated for young job seekers, aiming to nurture youth YouTubers through on-site job experiences related to video and media in small and medium-sized enterprises.
Increasing Regional Value ? KT Site Area Development Project, Junggok-dong Comprehensive Medical Complex
At the end of last year, the district completed the approval of the management and disposition plan and construction notification for the Jayang 1 Redevelopment Promotion Project around Guui Station, and plans to start construction in February to develop it as a representative central area of the northeastern region.
This area will include the new Gwangjin-gu office building, 1,363 apartment units, office buildings, lodging facilities (hotels), sales and cultural assembly facilities, and other large-scale complex facilities.
Also, the Junggok-dong Comprehensive Medical Complex is scheduled to be completed in July. It will house medical administrative institutions and be developed as a specialized strategic hub focused on medical, educational, and research work. The 3rd and 4th floors will feature a comprehensive childcare support center and a children-only performance hall to enhance residents’ convenience.
Transforming the Achasan Area ? Cultural Healing Plaza, Barrier-Free Forest Trail Creation
In June, the existing narrow and aging Achasan Ecological Park parking lot and plaza will be transformed into a “Cultural Healing Plaza,” a community space where visitors can enjoy leisure and culture.
Additionally, a barrier-free forest trail (from Achasan Plaza to Pyeonggang Bridge) will be created so that everyone, including people with disabilities and the elderly, can safely and comfortably enjoy the forest.
Supporting a Prosperous Life ? Senior Park, Lifelong Learning Center Construction, Gunja-dong Public Library
A “Senior Park,” a playground for the elderly, will be created to promote physical activity through enjoyable play.
