[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 12th, Rep. Choi Hyung-doo of the People Power Party announced that he will propose a partial amendment to the Act on the Prohibition of Improper Solicitation and Graft.
The proposed amendment includes excluding agricultural, fishery, and livestock products from the list of prohibited gifts, thereby removing the gift limit for these products.
Rep. Choi explained the background of the proposal, stating, "It is not appropriate to apply uniform standards when farmers, fishermen, and livestock producers are facing double hardships due to the spread of COVID-19 and abnormal weather conditions."

He added, "Unlike luxury goods, agricultural, fishery, and livestock products are unlikely to be subjects of improper solicitation transactions," emphasizing, "An amendment is necessary to prevent excessive contraction and damage to the related industries."
