KOSPI Takes a Breather... Early Session Decline
KOSDAQ Continues Downward Trend
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI, which had been on an upward trajectory, showed a somewhat hesitant pattern as it started to decline for the first time since the 5th.
On the 12th, the KOSPI opened at 3145.87, down 0.08% (2.58 points) from the previous day. The decline widened, and by 9:25 a.m., it had fallen 1% compared to the previous day to 3117.04.
Individual investors continued their buying spree. At the same time, they net purchased 407.3 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net sold 336.4 billion KRW and 67.9 billion KRW, respectively.
Many sectors declined. The transportation equipment sector had the largest drop at -2.31%. This was followed by securities (-1.97%), services (-1.66%), non-metallic minerals (-1.61%), and steel & metals (-1.54%). On the other hand, paper & wood (4.52%) and electric & gas utilities (2.46%) rose.
Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks were in decline. Hyundai Mobis had the largest drop at -4.4%, followed by SK Hynix (-2.7%), LG Chem (-2.6%), NAVER (-2.5%), Samsung Electronics (-1.8%), and Hyundai Motor (-1.6%). Celltrion was the only stock to rise, up 1.0%.
The KOSDAQ has been declining for three consecutive trading days. It opened at 977.14, up 0.05% (0.54 points) from the previous day, but soon turned downward, falling to 970.64 by 9:25 a.m.
Again, only individual investors net purchased, buying 88.5 billion KRW worth. Foreigners and institutions net sold 48.9 billion KRW and 35.7 billion KRW, respectively.
Almost all sectors were down. The telecommunications equipment sector had the largest drop at -1.67%, followed by IT hardware (-1.07%), semiconductors (-1.05%), and general electrical & electronics (-0.97%). Transportation (0.59%) and paper & wood (0.20%) rose.
Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks were down. Ecopro BM had the largest drop at -3.2%, followed by SK Materials (-2.4%), Celltrion Healthcare (-1.3%), HLB (-0.6%), and Pearl Abyss (-0.3%). Kakao Games (1.7%) and Seegene (1.6%) rose. Alteogen remained flat.
