[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Korea Employers Federation (KEF) expressed agreement with President Moon Jae-in's New Year's address, stating, "We resonate with the president's determination to restore the daily lives of the people from COVID-19 based on recovery and inclusion, and to leap forward as a leading nation through rapid and strong economic recovery."
On the 11th, KEF said, "The economic situation this year is still expected to be highly uncertain," adding, "The COVID-19 situation continues for a considerable period, and with the global trend toward protectionism likely to strengthen, domestically, multiple regulatory bills restricting corporate management activities are being legislated simultaneously, making the difficulties felt by our companies the worst possible."
It continued, "The most urgent task to overcome the economic crisis caused by COVID-19 and to become a leading country in the global economy is to revitalize the energy (gi) of companies so that they can freely invest and create jobs," emphasizing, "A groundbreaking policy shift is required to significantly ease regulations that hinder corporate management."
