Ruling and Opposition Parties Tentatively Agree on Han Jeong-ae's Confirmation Hearing for the 20th... Park Beom-gye Disagrees
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The ruling and opposition parties have tentatively agreed to hold the confirmation hearing for Environment Minister nominee Han Jeong-ae on the 20th.
According to the National Assembly on the 10th, the Environment and Labor Committee plans to hold a plenary meeting around the 14th to adopt the confirmation hearing implementation plan.
The Legislation and Judiciary Committee, which oversees the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HOCI) and the Ministry of Justice, has not yet finalized the hearing schedule. For nominee Kim Jin-wook, head of HOCI, a hearing around the 18th to 19th is being discussed.

Regarding Park Beom-gye, nominee for Minister of Justice succeeding Choo Mi-ae, scheduling negotiations have already become contentious. The Democratic Party proposed holding the hearing around the 22nd, but the People Power Party reportedly suggested postponing it until after the 25th, following nominee Kim's hearing next week, citing the need for preparation time. If additional cabinet reshuffles involving about five ministries occur soon, the National Assembly will continue the hearing season until next month.
